Winter Activities

If you're the outdoor type, then there are a host of activities available for you to enjoy
whatever the season in Lapland. The winter and spring seasons run from the start of
December through to the end of April. Below are just a few of the activities that you may want to consider.

Santa and his Gift Shop - A must do visit for all families.

Reindeer Farm - Visit Rudolph and his friends for a slow relaxing sleigh ride.

Husky Safaris - For a faster ride, try your hand at driving a Husky Dog sleigh.

Snowmobiling - Join one of the many organised trips or hire by the hour and explore the network of tracks through the wilderness.

Skiing - Yllas is the largest ski resort in Finland and is served by a ski bus service from Akaslompolo village. The slopes are ideal for families and are suitable for beginners and intermediate level skiers alike.

Nordic Skiing - With 320km of cross country ski tracks, this is a great fun for all the family.

Snow Village - Take a trip to the Lainio Snow Village (made of ice) where you can spend the night in an igloo, get lost in the maze, admire the magnificent ice sculptures or just enjoy a shot of Vodka or a warm drink at the Ice Bar.

All of the above activities are available to book locally in Akaslompolo village and are just a short walk from our Lapland Log Cabin.
