Summer Activities

Although Lapland is mainly considered a winter destination, what actually awaits you is breathtaking scenery and a vacation that can be as tranquil or action packed as you desire.

The summer and autumn activity programmes are suitable for all the family and travel and getting around is easy and stress free. Below are a few activities that will hopefully whet your appetite and help you try Lapland as your next summer destination.

Fishing - Akaslompolo's crystal clear lakes and rivers make fishing for Salmon, Brown Trout or the local speciality Grayling a fishermans paradise.

Trekking - The Kelloka Visitors Centre is only a short walk from Akaslompolo village and is where you can enjoy hikes of various difficulty and length with signposted trails. The centre also has a shop, nature centre, museum and cafe.

Midnight Sun - From the 30th May to the 15th July the Arctic Sun doesn’t set. This is a
popular time for summer festivals such as the Yllas Jazz Festival that can be enjoyed by the Finns and tourists alike.

Canoeing - Take a traditional Indian canoe along the Akas River and get away from
the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Mountain Biking - Enjoy a full day mountain biking while taking in the Yllas area, its
wonderful nature and scenic fells.

Spa and Beauty Treatments - These can be enjoyed at the Akashotelli Hotel and you can be pampered, massaged or just enjoy the Mini Spa.

All of the above activities are available to book locally in Akaslompolo village and are just a short walk from our Lapland Log Cabin.
